Nursery Rhymes
There are some many nursery rhymes out there. I remember several:
“Rock a bye, baby, in the tree top. When the wind blows, the cradle will rock. ”
And of course,
“Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray thee, Lord, my soul to keep. ”
One that is especially popular now-a-days”
“Good night, sleep tight, Don’t let the bedbugs bite,
Wake up bright in the morning light
To do what’s right with all your might.”
The scary thing is that this last one is legitimate! Bed bug numbers are on the rise. They are not just in developing countries or impovrished neighborhoods, they are everywhere it seems. You want to make sure and protect your little ones (and yourself) from these vicious creatures.
The most important thing is to know where the mattresses in your home are from. It is best to buy new mattresses. You will not have to worry about bed bugs with these. Somina products are the top of the line! They are all-natural memory foam, made from soy-bean oil. The foam breathes with your skin and does not get hot and sticky like petroleum based foams do. Made from lyocell, kapok, and elastic, the cover is designed to compliment the foam. Lyocell and elastic are natural products so you do not have to worry about sleeping on synthetic fibers. Kapok is a naturally bitter fruit that, when used in material, repels spiders, mites, fungus and such!
But if you choose to buy a gently used mattress for budgetry reasons or otherwise, be sure you purchase a mattress encasement. Protect-A-Bed’s encasements are designed to keep anything and everything that is already in the mattress there. They have a Bug Lock secure seal on the zipper. Be sure that you get an encasement, not just a cover. You want the entire mattress enclosed.
Nursery rhymes are supposed to ease your child into sleep, not stir up fears in the parent’s mind. Put those fears to bed by taking the precautions listed above.
Infant Deaths Linked to Moldy Bedding
I do not have a baby right now, but I know a lot of people who do so I always keep an eye out for studies and research that would affect them, especially in the areas of bedding and other linens. In going through recent news on 24-7 Press Releases, I came across a study that links Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) with the mattresses in their cribs.
In the article “Studies Link Crib Death to Toxic Mold in Mattresses and Bedding”, The research of Dr. Jim Sprott, scientist and chemist from New Zealand, is summarized and relieves that SIDS most certainly is caused by toxic gases that are produced by mold growth within a baby’s mattress, caused when liquids are spilled onto them. Even though mold is a health risk around infants by itself, it gets worse. Since the 1950’s, the US government has mandated that there be fire retardant chemicals added to the mattresses and when the mold begins to feed on wet mattress material, it releases toxic gases from the fire retardants through the sheets for the infant to inhale.
There are so many potential dangers that lay in store for a new born. Every parent should make sure that their baby bedding is safe. A Somina Organic Crib Mattress is ideal. The cover of the mattress contains fibers from the Kapok fruit that are naturally bitter. This characteristic actually repels spiders, bed bugs as well as fungus! Over this or any crib mattress, an AllerZip Mattress Encasement should be used. This encasement not only protects your child from dust mites and allergens, but also prevents the entry, exit and bites of bed bugs. This product enhances your child’s comfort while it waterproofs and stain-proofs the mattress. If a new mattress is not in the budget, get the encasement! For less than $100 you and your baby can sleep better and safer every night! These two products are both available from Go Green Bedding.

Made of all natural materials, an organic baby blanket is a great way to help take care of your baby’s sensitive skin.
